About Club Social.
What is Club Social?
Club Social is a new social dance club at Dance Zone. While there are memberships, the club is open to the public. Club Social’s objective is to offer Marquette’s dance community another inexpensive avenue to pursue our love of dancing. The club will offer the opportunity to learn and practice ballroom and social dancing in a comfortable, friendly format.
How Does It Work?
Club Social will offer a dance each month throughout the year (twelve dances, 3 of wihich will feature a live band). The regular dances will use recorded music from Dance Zone’s large dance music repertoire.
What Dances Will I Learn?
Club Social will offer both Ballroom and Social Dancing. Ballroom dancing includes the smooth dances: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango and the rhythm dances: Rumba, Cha Cha, Mambo, Samba, East Coast Swing, Jive, etc. Social dancing includes Salsa, West Coast Swing, Lindy, Line Dances and other popular styles.
What If I Can’t Dance?
Club Social will have a format that will allow members, no matter what their experience level, to learn and keep learning new skills. Each regular dance will offer:
* A one-hour dance workshop beginning at 7 PM. In each workshop you will learn two new ballroom dance steps; the level will depend upon the participants.
* One or two “mixers” where everyone will have the opportunity to try out their dance steps with different members of the club.
* Two hours of open dancing.
What Is The Charge?
Club Social’s membership is free! Members are expected to register at Dance Zone and help with planning and refreshments. Non-members can attend the dances at a cost of $3 per person for a regular dance and $10 per person for the live band dances.
2018 Dates for Club Social - Second Saturday of each month.
